The lovely Nottinghamshire village of Wellow

Situated in the centre of the attractive conservation village of Wellow, Wisteria provides the perfect getaway. Wellow’s famous Maypole on the quintessential village green, right in front of this charming 17th century country cottage, and with the 12th century church of St. Swithin’s in view, guests have a unique and pleasant view from the start. Wisteria offers a relaxing break in a tranquil rural village surrounded by beautiful countryside, whilst being in close proximity to an abundance of things to see and do….a perfect cosy base.
The National Nature Reserve of Sherwood Forest, the home of Robin Hood, is nearby. It’s alive with nature, history and folklore. Explore its 420 hectares of ancient and unique woodland and heaths. You can walk trails, cycling tracks, and even swinging through the treetops at GoApe, providing adventure and opportunities for all. A country-lane drive away from Wisteria is Rufford Abbey – a delightful country estate with acres to explore, a lovely large lake to amble around, and the all important ducks and other wildlife to feed. For sporting golfers, they have everything they need at Rufford Park Golf and Country Club; and for those wanting to completely relax, there is Center Parc’s Forest Spa ‘Aqua Sana Sherwood Forest’ a hop, skip and a jump away. Take a trip to the historic town of Southwell, enjoy tea and take time to visit the marvelous Minster. A little farther afield, Lincoln and Newark host an array of independent shops and eateries, surrounded by historic charm, each boasting a castle, and at Lincoln a Cathedral. Wellow lies in the ‘Dukeries’ – the name given to the area encompassing four dukes’ and a lord’s estates – Clumber, Rufford, Thoresby, Welbeck and Worksop Manor. Here you can engross yourself in heritage, nature and fine country living.
